Welcome to the Tri-State Consortium Website!
The Tri-State Consortium of Opportunity Programs in Higher Education is a not-for-profit organization of volunteer members representing educational institutions, state education agencies and others involved in the administration of state-supported educational opportunity programs in post-secondary education.
The primary goals of the organization and its members are to promote the higher education access, retention, academic success, and graduation of first generation-college, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged student populations, as well as assisting these students with preparation for admission to graduate and professional schools, and careers. Educational Opportunity Programs facilitate this process by giving colleges and universities the capacity to provide the academic and social supports that help first generation college, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged students to develop their academic potential and to pursue their educational goals.
The Tri-State Consortium includes educators, administrators, counselors and staff, working in the state supported educational opportunity programs in New Jersey (Educational Opportunity Fund), New York, (Educational Opportunity Programs in the State University System (EOP), Higher Education Opportunity Programs, New York State Education Department (HEOP) and Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) in the City University of New York), and Pennsylvania (ACT 101)
The mission of the Tri-State Consortium focuses on:
· removing barriers that prevent disadvantaged students from attaining an undergraduate and graduate education;
· increasing institutional and state response to the removal of challenges related to serving a more diverse student population served by (in) opportunity programs, and
· improving the capacity of opportunity programs in member states to expand access to higher education and to increase the graduation rate for students in opportunity programs.
· providing professional development, leadership and networking opportunities for continued professional growth and career advancement
